Forum for Democratic Change(FDC)’s leaders early Saturday arrived in Teso Region for Mobilisation campaign and thanksgiving ceremony for party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat.

The function took place at Soroti main ground.

The team was comprised of  former party leader Kizza Besigye, Leader of Minority in Parliament Betty Aol Ocan, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Hon. Mwijukye Francis, Hon. Mubarak Munyagwa, Hon. William Nzoghu and Hon. Harold Muhindo.

Also present was the party secretary general  Nathan Nandala Mafabi as well as the Chairman Wasswa Birigwa.

According to Dr Besigye’s publicist Ronald Muhinda, when the convoy reached the Bugisu-Teso border, tradional  ceremonies were performed on  Mr Amuriat and Dr Besigye.

“Mr Amuriat was got out of the car, lifted and then run a distance of about a kilometer to cross the Mbale-Bukedea bridge from where Teso traditional ceremonies were performed on him and Dr Besigye,” Muhinda posted on his Facebook page.

The ceremony included tying a coloured cloth around Mr Amuriat. A ring made of soft glass was then tied around his neck, before water from a calabash was sprinkled on him.

“The elderly woman conducting the ceremony then handed Mr Amuriat a spear and shield. He was then made to sit on a traditional seat,” Muhinda told Watchdog.

Others present at the ceremony included Geoffrey Ekanya, Wafula Oguttu,  Ingrid Turinawe,  Margret Wokuri Madanda, Wycliffe Dk Bakandonda and FDC district and local leaders from Teso, Bugisu and Busoga regions.
