Jinja High Court judge Justice Henry Kaweesa has advised born-again Christians not to think that their nearness to Jesus in faith exempts them from the law, and cautioned them if caught in any act of breaking the law, they are subject to prosecution.
“If you storm traditional believers’ shrines and set them ablaze without their consent in the name of burning the devil, you will be prosecuted if the owners opt to open legal proceedings against you”, Kaweesa warned them
He also warned against marrying off people in blood relations or those still in binding matrimonial relations. Justice Kaweesa was on Friday closing a five-day pastors and church leaders’ retreat at Seroma Christian High School Kyetume in Nakisunga sub-county.
The retreat was organized by greater Mukono born-again umbrella organization called ‘Love, Peace and Unity Pastors’ Destiny Forum’, under the theme ,”Never Give Up”. It was overseen by the forum president and vision bearer, Bishop Samuel Lwandasa of Mt. Lebanon Christian Centre.
The judge advised the pastors to mobilize their followers to always register birth and deaths of their children to avoid breaching the law that stipulates so.
The RDC Haji Nasser Munuulo hailed Bishop Lwandasa for playing a kye role in mobilizing pastors in the fourt districts of Mukono, Buikwe, Kayunga and Buvuma, saying that this has greatly assisted his office in ironing out disagreements among the pastors.
He advised them to embrace the role of preaching faith alongside observance of the law, cautioning that if they do not do so, lawless elements in society will ruin the good work they have built over time.
Munuulo also advised the pastors to start watsapp groups for easier sharing of tjeir social problems and finding joint solutions.
Bp. Lwandasa said that they thought of the retreat to enable church leaders keep abreast with information in all sectors of life, adding that they are under obligation in turn to educate their flocks on what they have learnt.
