The executive director of Oxfam and long time critic of President Museveni’s governance record, has compared the Ugandan current leader to the former president Milton Obote, who abuses of human rights and bad governance record tainted his government and led to his overthrow twice.
Winnie Byanyima said in a tweet on Wednesday that Museveni was no different from Obote for threatening to thwart voices asking for respect of human rights.
While announcing rebellion against Mr Obote’s government in the early 1980s, Mr Museveni said there was no room for democracy and self determination in the country.
“How is this explanation by #M7 different from the hollow rant by Obote about those who were resisting violent dictatorship in the 80s – “ we will wipe out the bandits”! What happened to him? Ugandans, stand firm, we will overcome. #FreeUganda“. @Winnie_Byanyima the former Mbarara Municipality MP tweeted.
Byanyima was reacting to ChimpReports story “Museveni Narrates SFC, Bobi, Zaake Scuffle to NRM MPs”.Museveni on Tuesday met MPs of his NRM party and told them the story he had gathered detailing how MPs Francis Zaake and Bobi Wine got injured.
