The management of Uganda Natural Tropical Food Ltd, a Mukono food processing company, has petitioned the land inquiry commission headed by Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereire, to intervene in matter where they claim M/S
Abubaker Technical Services and General Supplies Ltd are encroaching on their land.
According to the proprietor Kanapathy Pilaikandia Yoganathan, a Mukono-based Sri Lankan businessman, he has failed to receive redress from Mukono police because of what he called between his tormentors and unnamed
high government circles.
He further stated that in the latest development, on 5th May 2018, management of Abubaker Technical Services deployed graders which pounced on his land, destroyed a perimeter wall, a toilet and vegetation thereon and
started making culverts.
“I tried to seek an explanation from the perpetrators but they declined to give me audience and instead went ahead and destroyed my property while threatening to harm me and my workers some of whom were arrested by police”, Yoganathan said.
According to documents he showed journalists on Tuesday, Yoganathan is the registered owner of private mailoland measuring 0.057 hectares comprised in plot 464 Block 192 located at Kigombya village in Mukono Central division, which he bought from the late Thereza Mbiro in 2010.
He further explained that on death of Mbiro, her children Rosemary Mbirontono, Florence Nabakiibi and Grace Nakiwunga on 12th February 2015 entered into a fresh agreement with M/S Abubaker Technical Services whereupon they re-sold his land to the latter.
Through his lawyers, Yoganathan variously lodged three caveats in court, which he says management of Abubaker defied and continued trespassing on his land.
He also showed our reporter a notice of intention to sue dated 19th April 2018 written by M/S Kusiima and Co. Advocates to the administrators of the late Thereza Mbiro’s estate, Abubaker technical Services and other people
he claims have a hand in his suffering.
Yoganathan says that unidentified law enforcement workers from Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) were dressed in Abubaker Technical Services uniforms and used to execute the illegal demolition of his perimeter wall,
adding that he has proof to this effect which he says he will use as evidence.
Efforts to talk to directors of Abubaker Technical Services were futile as all top managers were said to be out of the country on a business trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The company Administrative Assistant Fatumah Ndagire said she expected the team back in the country on Thursday and advised this reporter to call then, but on calling her, she said she would be out of office till late, and promised to call, which she had not done by close of business on Thursday.
