A man in Kabalagala has been charged and remanded over attacking and assaulting a police officer.
The suspect appeared before Makindye Chief Magistrates Court today Friday.
The suspect identified as Sylvester Semakula aged 30 is accused of attacking with an iron bar and assaulting a police officer No 67363 PPC. Osbert Tubenawe attached to Kasawe police Station on the night of 28th June 2018.
It is alleged that the suspect entered Kasawe Police Station, lied to the officers there was a woman being attacked at a nearby school in need of help a move aimed at diverting the alertness of officers.
Two officers responded leaving others on guard however the suspect pounced on the officer with an aim to grab a gun. He was however saved by his colleague who was guarding the parking yard.
The officers overpowered the suspect and had the situation under control very quickly.
The suspect was arrested, detained at Kabalagala Police Station vide SD. REF 04/28/06/2018 and was today remanded to Luzira Upper Prison.
