Residents of Kyambogo on the outskirts of Kampala have constructed a police post in a move aimed at eradicating crime in the neighborhood.
The construction of Kyambogo Highway Police Post came as a contribution from the Director Yoshino Motor Co. Limited.
Kyambogo area is a busy hub with various businesses, schools, fuel stations and other residential homesteads.
It’s on this note that increased effectiveness and performance of police is most required. The community therefore constructed the police post will make police services more accessible to people around areas of Jinja Road Highway, Nabisunsa, Banda and Spear Motors.
Police presence in this area will help curb down the common reported cases of mugging, stealing from motor vehicles and careless driving.
While officiating at the opening ceremony today, Commander Kampala Metropolitan Police CP. Moses Kafeero Kabugo thanked the residents for acknowledging the efforts of Uganda Police Force.
He advised residents to embrace Community Policing as a way of information sharing and bridging the gap between the people and the police.
“Police has intensified foot and motorised patrols in Kampala Metropolitan Area and this police post will be local coordination centre for various teams with the aim of strengthening security in this area,” CP. Kafeero said.
