As the days continue to be counted to the phasing out of scratch cards, MTN Uganda is working on increasing its electronic airtime retailer base.
MTN on Monday announced that agents that use Easy Load and mobile money solution to sell airtime stand a chance to win a startup business where kiosks, startup capital and smart phones will be given away.
While making the announcement, Annie Bilenge Tabura, the General Manager Sales, and Distribution at MTN Uganda said that MTN was doing this to allow for a smooth transition from scratch cards to electronic airtime distribution once the directive from the regulator is implemented.
MTN Uganda currently has an agent network of 130,000. As electronic distribution of airtime continues to grow, a growing agent network means more opportunities are being created both directly and indirectly for our customers.
“Every week, up to 30 MTN airtime retailers /agents will receive a kiosk with a smart phone and a startup capital of Shs 400,000. The promotion win run for 7 weeks up to end of July.
“For a retailers or agent to qualify to enter the weekly draw, they have to sell airtime worth UGX 100,000 every week through easy load or mobile money.” Tabura explains.
MTN will conduct weekly draws where the 30 winners will be picked. This promotion is focused on MTN retailers/agents and comes weeks after a consumer promotion was launched where customers can win cars, school fees, TVs, phones and mobile money.
