The Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) for research and innovations at Kampala International University (KIU) Professor George Nasinyama has come out to clarify on the article that was published by one of the local newspapers that the institution produces half baked medical doctors.
Prof. Nasinyama said that he was surprised to read such an article yet the university has more than enough modern facilities and teaching staff that makes it’s medical school the best in the region.
He said KIU has had a number of inspections from reputable stakeholders who approved the medical school.
“Various stake holders have inspected KIU between 2015 and 2018″. said Prof. Nasinyama
He explained that in 2015, the joint council of East African medical council visited the university twice and they proved that KIU has all that is needed to have a medical school.
Dr Annete Kezabu, the DVC academic affairs noted that they have the best teaching hospital in the country.
” We have the best teaching hospital in Uganda “. she said.
In the report that made by the East African Community on the re-inspection of KIU (23rd April 2016), it was observed that the university had made tremendous improvement in complying with the recommendations arising from the 2nd joint inspection of medical and dental schools and teaching in November 2015.
