Uganda First lady also Education Minister Janet Kataaha Museveni has warned Makerere University over the unending strikes within the institution.
Janet who was officiating at the 2018 Makerere University Annual Research and Innovations Planning Meeting held in Makerere Main Hall, said the University community should stop resorting to strikes as a means of expressing their grievances.
Referring to the recent student’s strike against fees increment, Janet said strikes and student unrest jeopardizes government programs and those of development partners such as the Mak-Sida research partnership.
She appealed to students to cooperate with the university management to ensure that public universities are run in a peaceful environment to enable such projects take off. She also asked higher education institutions to devise peaceful means of resolving conflicts.
