Former prime minister Amama Mbabazi has called upon African leaders to accept to leave power.
In what is regarded has a swipe at his former comrade Yoweri Museveni whose presidency is in its 32nd year Amama said everywhere on the continent the winds of change were sweeping.
Giving examples, Amama said at Makerere that South Africa and Zimbabwe had in the recent past changed leaders.
President Museveni has continuously faced criticism for staying in power for over three decades. His party recently orchestrated the amendment of the constitution to allow a President to run uninterrupted despite their age.
