A Kenyan news website identified as www.standardmedia.co.ke has been accused of being used by Rwanda Intelligence to provoke Uganda.

It is alleged that for the past two weeks, Rwanda’s Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI) has been using the online news outlet post articles attacking the government of Uganda, especially on the current interstate relationship.

Hill Water

Most of the articles attacking the Ugandan government which were published in Igihe.com, a Rwandan government tabloid, have also been translated in English and republished in www.standardmedia.co.ke.

According to Rpf Gakwerere, a Rwandan political and social critic, this mechanism has been used by DMI before, in order to attack those they presume to be their perceived enemies.

He says three years ago, DMI built a website with a Zimbabwean domain in order to attack and character assassinate Rwandan opposition members especially those in Rwanda National Congress and some Political figures in Burundi. After serving its purposed, DMI shut down the site.

Now, the Rwandan media attack on Uganda through all coverts means is gearing and gaining momentum, and it won’t relent until their objectives have been realized, but the cold war between Uganda and Rwanda is heading towards a very serious stage if nothing is done to calm the situation,” noted Gakwerere.

This development comes at a backdrop when five Red Pepper publication directors and three editors are behind bars after publishing a story with that Ugandan government is plotting to overthrow the Rwandan government.
