Tanzania President John Pombe Magufuli warned his Uganda counterpart President Yoweri Museveni that is is more likely to be trounced like Zimbabwe former President Robert Mugabe due to his overstay in power.

Speaking during the presidential inauguration in Zimbabwe, Magufuli said that “Africa is freeing itself from slavery and soon all African states will enjoy all the freedom they deserve.”

“I want to thank Zimbabwe military for the peaceful transition. Also, I want to thank Mr.Mugabe for accepting to step down. It wasn’t easy, this is a great lesson other African states should learn. We cannot be in power forever, we should learn to appreciate our citizens for every single opportunity they give us to serve them.” said Mr.Magufuli

“Let us not misuse the opportunity, respect those who put us to power because they can bring you down anytime. Today is Mugabe tomorrow is Museveni and maybe the day after tomorrow is Zuma, you never know,” he added.
Magufuli is amongst the head of states who attended the inauguration of the former Zimbabwean Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Mnangagwa was sworn in as Zimbabwe’s president on Friday, marking the final chapter of a political drama that toppled his predecessor Robert Mugabe after a military takeover.

Mnangagwa, until recently one of Mugabe’s closest allies, took the oath of office at the national sports stadium on the outskirts of Harare before thousands of supporters, dignitaries and foreign diplomats.

Snipers took up positions around the stadium amid tight security as jubilant Mnangagwa supporters streamed in, much dancing as music played.

Magufuli and Museveni have been friends since 2015. The Tanzanian head of state has made visits to Uganda twice since he was elected.
