Second half substitute Alex Kitata grabbed all the headlines during Sports Club Villa Jogoos’ 1-0 victory over Express Red Eagles at the Masaka Recreational Stadium on Friday.
It was an exciting derby match that lived to its pre-mediated status.
Kitata who had come on for Godfrey Lwesibawa scored the lone strike of the day on a dampened ground in Masaka.
Before the glorious moment, Lwesibawa missed from close range after being set by Yubu Bogere.
Allan Kymbadde and Nicholas Kasozi had also been impressive in either halves.
Goalkeeper Samson Kirya was fully alert to thwart any danger. He excelled in the second half when he parried out Sulaiman Jjingo’s free-kick from about 30 yards.
Sports Club Villa Jogoo is now on log of all the other 15 clubs, having collected 25 points from 12 games, ahead of second placed Police (23 points).
KCCA lost 2-0 to Proline in the Lugogo derby and thus remains third with 22 points.
