The Leader of Opposition (LoP) also Kasese District Woman MP Winnie Kiiza and Rukungiri municipality MP Roland Mugume have returned the shs29 million age limit consultation money which was recently given to each MP.

While addressing the press on Thursday morning, Kiiza and Mugume, the consultation money is like a handshake from President Yoweri Museveni yet they are against it so they couldn’t keep the shs29 million.

“We were the ones who were against the shs6 billion presidential handshake , this money is like the handshake,” said Mugume adding that,” In the budget, there was no money for facilitation of MPs,”

Kiiza said, “There was no need to splash tax payers money on a venture meant to benefit an individual. This money can do much more to benefit Ugandans if well planned and dispatched on purpose,”

Other MPs who have publicly declared to have taken back the money include Bobi Wine (Kyadondo East) ,Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda (Kira), Moses Kasibante (Rubaga North), Angellina Osegge (Soroti Woman), Muwanga Kivumbi (Butambala), Medard Ssegona (Busiro East), William Nzoghu (Busongora North) among others.

However, some MPs like Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko said they will give the money to charity as taking it back to government would be handing it back to the “same vultures to steal it”.
