UPDF defends Generals Muhoozi, Muhwezi age limit talk

The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) has defended the Chief of Defence Forces Gen. David Muhoozi and Rtd Maj Gen. Jim Muhwezi over age limit talk.

Over the weekend, statements purportedly by Gen Muhoozi and Gen. Muhwezi giving their views on the security situation created in the process of trying to remove the presidential age limit, was posted on Facebook and shared of various WhatsApp groups.

However, according to UPDF spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire, the statements being spread on social media in regard to the age limit and the recent unfortunate incident in Rukungiri Distict are untrue.

He says the two generals have never been involved in such talks and the false information seek to dent the good image of the army.

“This misinformation is drawing in the names of the UPDF Chief of Defence Forces Gen David Muhoozi.A similar fake one had circulated drawing in Hon Maj Gen (Rtd)Jim Muhwezi.Gen Muhoozi has NEVER been involved in such talk. Please be advised that they are all untrue and seek to dent the good image of the UPDF.The people’s force is fully aware of its obligations under the constitution. Therefore,treat all this falsehood with all the contempt it deserves,” said Karemire.
