The Court of Appeal has today morning upheld the election of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)’s Abdu Katuntu as Bugweri county MP.

The dismissed election appeal was filed by NRM’s Daniel Ibaale and he has been ordered to pay court costs.

In his appeal, Ibaale alleged that Katuntu was declared winner of Bugweri County basing on irregular results and that he also committed electoral offences when he allegedly uttered false and defamatory statements and defacing his posters relying on FDC’s defiance campaign slogan.

Last year Jinja High Court Judge Margret Mutonyi dismissed Ibaale’s case with costs on grounds that he had not adduced satisfactory evidence that MP Katuntu breached any electoral law.
