Vipers Sports Club is planning to start awarding players on a monthly basis for their individual performances in the Azam Uganda Premier League.
Vipers sponsorship and promotions manager Robert Ssentongo said that they felt duty-bound to award the players especially after getting sponsors on board.
“The club has been doing well in the league since the sponsors came on board and management felt duty-bound to award the players to acknowledge and appreciate their efforts.” explained Ssentongo.
“I believe the awards will not only go a long way in making Vipers strong but it will also bring competition and improvement within the players.”
The two-time league champions were unbeaten in four games, all played last month.
In that period, the club won three and drawing, the outstanding result being the 1-0 victory over SC Villa.
The best player will always be crowned at the start of the first home game of every month. It will also determine the overall performance of the individual players and the team’s award ceremony at the end of the season.
Fans will be given a chance to choose their man of the match every after a game
The nominees for the player of the month of September are: Goalkeeper Ismail Watenga, midfielder Taddeo Lwanga and striker Milton Karisa.
