Government Chief Whip Ruth Nankabirwa on Sunday tasted the wrath of mourners during the burial ceremony of Dr. Abel Rwendeire, the former Deputy Chairman of National Planning Authority which took place at Kibuzigye Primary School Playground in Rubanda District.
While at the podium, Nankabirwa accused Reverend Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda (who was also present at the funeral) for being at the forefront of fighting the proposed age limit constitutional amendment aiming at enabling president Yoweri Museveni stand for president even after clocking 75 years of age.
She urged that there’s high need to amend the age limit simply because it is only God who determines one’s age on earth.
Nankabirwa’s statement did not go down well with mourners who shouted at her chanting ‘Togikwatako’.
Mourners went ahead to hurl insults at her for betraying Ugandans.
Meanwhile, Fr. Batanyenda said the way Nankabirwa was booed is a clear indication that Ugandans are aware that those pushing for age limit lifting are parasites who don’t wish to see a peaceful transition of power.
He vowed to continue preaching against the controversial bill.
