Early this week, businessman Sudhir Ruparelia through his lawyers Kampala Associated Advocates, requested High Court of Commercial Division to remove AF Mpanga Advocates led by David Mpanga and MMAKS Advocates led by Masembe Kanyerezi from the legal battle between him and Bank of Uganda due to conflict of interest.
In response, Court set 13 September, 2017 as the hearing date for Sudhir versus Mpanga and Masembe case.
To clarify Sudhir’s stand, a consent document showing Masembe representing Sudhir and his companies on several occasions has surfaced.
In this document, Masembe represented Meera Investments Limited, Rosebud Limited, Speke Hotel and Crane Bank.
According to Sudhir, MMAKS represented Crane Bank until October, 2016 when the Bank was taken over by Bank of Uganda.
Meanwhile, BoU dragged Sudhir and his Meera Investment Limited to court accusing them of siphoning shs400 billion from Crane Bank.
