The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has asked government to stop creating new districts and administrative units.
Kadaga who thinks the country has reached the bar of creating new districts and administrative units asked the Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda to stop thronging parliament with proposals.
“I hope we have now reached the bar of creating new districts/ administrative units. Prime Minister, you should stop bringing proposals,” said Kadaga.
So far Uganda has over 120 districts.
According to government, it creates new districts for effective administration of those areas and bring services closer to the people
The Constitution requires more than half of the total number of MPs to be in favour of creation of new districts for the decision to hold.
