The Parliamentary Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) led by Abdul Katuntu has ordered Nalongo estates owned by former professional boxer Godfrey Nyakana and wife Sarah Kizito to pave way for National Water and Sewerage Cooperation (NWSC) to carry out its projects on the land occupied by Centenary Park.

Katuntu has also ordered for the demolition of structures at Centenary park as earlier planned.

“All institutions should go ahead and do their work immediately, working together within the law with a human face,” Katuntu stated.

He further warned former Kampala Mayor, Nyakana against mobilizing goons to sabotage work at the park that he risks being handled by the law.

The Inspector General of Police(IGP) Kale Kayihura who was earlier today summoned by the committee to explain whypolice failed to respond to a request by KCCA to provide security while executing demolishing of illegal structures erected at the park, assured to work with Kampala Capital City Authority(KCCA) Executive Director Jennifer Musisi not to allow any kind of disruption when NWSC is laying sewers at Centenary Park premises.
