Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) sent home the managing director of the national broadcaster home.
Watchdog understands that Mr Winston Agaba was on Thursday afternoon suspended by the board chaired by Simon Kaheru.
The suspension, according our sources, takes effect today and the MD will not be allowed near UBC premises until the Board sits in the next two weeks.
In the meantime, Mr Musoke Solomon, head of audit has been asked to act as Managing Director.
Agaba has been suspended after the Minister of Information and ICT, Frank Tumwebaze on june 19, 2017 wrote to Agaba and the Board of Directors led by Simon Kaheru to show cause why they should not be kicked out for not performing their functions.
Mr Tumwebaze contends that the management of UBC has failed to give a “clear work plan justifying the critical needs of UBC”. UBC management also failed to show coherently how they planned to use the proposed allocation of Shs 20billion, leading the ICT Permanent Secretary and his team to “re-write the plan and re-submit” it to Parliament for consideration.
UBC has for the past years been in the news for the wrong news.
Just yesterday, the former managing director of the national broadcaster Paul Kihiha was arrested and sent to jail over embezzlement.
