It is tough being Richard Byarugaba. You can actually pity the man who is one of the longest managers of the Fund. And to be fair to him, he has done some good work at the Workers House based pension organization.
The problem is – NSSF is never short of drama, despite all efforts.
Watchdog Investigative desk has received notification that Mr Byarugaba is a sad man. To say sad is actually an understatement because powers that be have made him eat his humble pie.
Story is Mr Byarugaba, whose term expires in December this year, recently sacked some managers as well as compliance auditors for one reason or the other.
Watchdog understands some of the fired branch managers included those Masaka, Hoima, City and Kawempe.
However, some branch managers and staff were actually better connected than Byarugaba their boss. What the NSSF boss didn’t know is how these people got their jobs at the fund and when he returned these staff back to the sender, the sender made the boss some irritating phone call, demanding that everyone who was sacked be reinstated. Failure to do, Mr Byarugaba knows the repercussion of his “defiance”.
So, he has to decide, rather, he has decided to bury his pride, and recall his sacking letters. Watchdog understands that some of the people who had been showed the exit door have already resurfaced at their work stations.
