Chinese diplomats working at the Embassy in hot soup after involving themselves in illicit wildlife trade and smuggling of wild animals’ body parts to Congo, Central African Republic (CAR) and South Sudan.
Li wejin and yinzhi, the diplomats working at the embassy have been highlighted as some of the Chinese involved in the smuggling of ivory, pangolin’s “olugave” meat and scales together with Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) officials.
The two were mentioned by the President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in his letter to the Inspector General of Government (IGG) Justice Irene Mulyagonja, demanding her to investigate the UWA especially it’s boss Dr. Andrew Seguya over the same allegations of smuggling wild animals body parts, illicit wildlife trading and bribery which were sabotaging Uganda’s tourism and causing wild animals loss their lives.
According to the letter, Museveni says that these Chinese have been illegally exporting pangolin’s meat and scales, being helped by some UWA officials.
“Some UWA officials are collaborating with some Chinese by the names of Li Wejin and Yinzhi who are diplomats in the embassy, to export ivory from Congo, CAR and South Sudan,” Museveni said in the letter.
