UPDF decorates newly promoted army officers

On Friday, UPDF Chief of Defence Forces General David Muhoozi decorated newly promoted officers at Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters, Mbuya Kampala. He said that the recent UPDF promotions are worth celebrating since they are for the good of the Institution and the country at large.

General Muhoozi made the remarks while presiding over as Chief Guest during the decoration ceremony of twenty nine (29) newly promoted generals and Senior Officers. General Muhoozi thanked President Yoweri Museveni who is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces for being keen on building UPDF and human resource improvement. He added that the officers deserve the ranks which they have been elevated to.

The decorated included one (01) Major General, six (06) Brigadiers and twenty two (22) Colonels including a female Senior Officer Colonel Grace Kyomugisha Ikiriza who was decorated by her husband Lt Col Ikiriza. Col Kyomugisha was a UPDF Member of Parliament 2006 – 2011.

General Muhoozi added that other officers promoted also on 2nd May 2017 will be decorated at their formation levels.

Maj Gen John Mugume while delivering his speech on the behalf of the newly promoted officers thanked the Commander in Chief for recognizing their contribution towards building peace and security in the country.
