The Uganda Muslim Youth Development Forum [UMYDF] has this afternoon launched a new campaign to stop massive killings in the country.
The campaign dubbed “Amani Leo” was officially launched by a group of Muslims headed by the project team leader Mr. Abubakar Muhammad at the UMDL office in Ntinda.
Speaking to the press, Abubakar said that they have lined up a number of activities that include dialogues with policy makers, community and school engagements.
“Our plan is to reach as many people as possible in the country. We are already having peace dialogues in schools around Kampala” adds Abubakar.
It is on this note that he called upon all peace loving Ugandans to join the Amani Leo Campaign in order to build up together the wanted future of Uganda.
The group comprises of a committee of fourteen people who are committed and ready to serve in the act of creating and maintaining peace.
Zulaika Nanfuka, the programmes officer of UMYDF believes that Uganda cannot be excluded from the rest of the world with acts like the recent gas attack in Syria, the Swedish bus attack in Stockholm, London Extremist Attack as well as the deadly explosions in the Egyptian Coptic churches on palm Sunday.
She gave an example of the killings in Uganda that since 2012, Uganda witnessed murders of 13 Muslim clerics like Sheik Hassan Kirya, Mustapha Bahiga, Muhamed Kiggundu among any more of whom even government officials like the AIGP Felix Kaweesi perished.
