High Court has summoned Kampala Capital City Authority
to defend itself on allegations that it negligently failed to
cover manholes in the city that cause pedestrians to fell in
them.
According to the summons signed by Deputy Registrar Alex
Ajiji, KCCA has been given only 15 days within which to
defend them-selves, before court fixes a case for hearing.
This after a citizen, Lubega Silver filed a case against KCCA
seeking of over 15million shillings as damages when he fell in KCCA man manhole and broke one of his leg.
Lubega says on 26th August 2014 while walking as a
pedestrian along Namirembe Road in Kampala , fell in a
manhole about 8-9 feet and became unconscious, only to
be rescued by good Samaritans.
As a result, he suffered injuries, his body was bruised and
his right leg was operated and moves on clutches.
