The Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has appealed to the central government to fight child sacrifice in the country.

This was during the official opening of the 24th Buganda Lukiiko sitting at Bulange – Mengo.

In his five-minutes speech, Kabaka Mutebi said that the Kingdom had once again observed kidnapping of children, child sacrifice as well as child torture by parents.

He said it’s time for the central government to punish with strict laws all people who engage in abuse of children’s rights.

The king also appealed to parents to always take caution of who they leave their children with and the general well-being of the people in their families.

Kabaka Mutebi also directed the Buganda representatives abroad to ensure that the kingdom’s subjects are well-versed with the cultural norms of Buganda, citing language and clans among others.

Three Kingdom ministers and nine new representatives abroad took oath before the King.

Kabaka Mutebi said that the promotion of Luganda language is to strengthen the kingdom.

The kingdom ministers who pledged allegiance to the king include the state minister for agriculture Hamis Kakomo, state minister for finance Mulema Mukasa and the state minister for education Dr. Prosperous Nankindu Kavuma.

The new Buganda Kingdom representatives abroad include Kato Kajubi representing North East Coast in America, Omumbejja Dorothy Musoke Mugerwa representing West Coast America, Engineer Moses Mayanja representing Washington and Dr. Abu Ssenkayi representing South West America among others.

Others include Joseph Ssemakula commonly known as Omugave Ndugwa representing Southern California, Dr. Dunstan Kibuuka Lumu representing South Africa, Ronald Fredrick Ruyinda Lutaaya for United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, Dr. William Ddamulira representing West Cape town and Professor Vincent Kakembo, the deputy representative South Africa.

Buganda Kingdom Premier, Charles Peter Mayiga said that these representatives’ abroad help to mobilise Ugandans to ensure that kingdom issues are given priority.

The Kabaka was accompanied by Nnabagereka Sylivia Nagginda, Princess Katrina Ssangalyambogo, Prince David Wassajja and Prince David Goloba .

The other key dignitaries in attendance included former Buganda Kingdom premiers Mayanja Nkangi, Mulwanyamuli Ssemwogerere, Dan Muliika, and Lubaga Division Mayor Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo among others.
