The Mutesasira siblings Esther and Ezekiel made Uganda proud after winning the first edition of East Africa Got Talent (EAGT) that went down in Nairobi, Kenya on Sunday October 6, 2019.
The duo walked away with the grand prize of USD50,000 (Shs184 million) after defeating the other finalists who included, Intayoberana (Rwanda), Jannell Tamara (Kenya), DNA (Uganda), Jehovah Shalom (Uganda) and Spellcast (Kenya).
Recently, when asked what they will be doing if they win the grand price, Ezekiel said that he will first give tithe to God, Build a home for the disabled and orphaned children and use the remaining money to process the required travel documents to Canada, to visit his mother.
Who are Esther and Ezekiel?
Born to Pastor Steven Mutesasira, a senior pastor of Appointed Upper Room Church Kamwokya, and Gospel singer Juliet Mutesasira Nalugwa, the siblings come from a strong religious background and have been singing in the church choir, conference, weddings and Christian Parties for most of their time.
Their lives changed for the better after their Aunt, Gladys Babirye saw the EAGT advert and registered them to take part in the auditions. The duo was them selected among the 30 contestants who represented Uganda in Kenya.
Esther Hadassah Mutesasira is the first born in the family of three, Ezekiel comes second and the last born is Eliza Mutesasira. Popularly known as Pretty at home, Esther was born on August 31, 2005, and she started her music journey in 2007, in Church.
Ezekiel on the other side was born in 2007 and started singing at the age of one. The young star claimed that growing up while listening to the songs of artistes like Beyoncé, Whitney Huston and Ariana Grande, gave him an inspiration to focus and master the art of music.
The 11 year-old is currently in primary four at Hormisdallen School Kamwokya, and he once revealed that his dream is to be a professional musician whose music positively impacts lives.
Besides his win in EAGT, Ezekiel was crown the winner of Uganda Has Got Talent, 2017 at Club Obligato, which also won him a trip to United States of America to perform at Uganda North American Association (UNAA) Conversion.
In just a less than a month, the sibling’s duo has already registered 1.3 million views on Youtube, and their fan base is growing bigger every day and night.
