NTV presenter Larry Madowo has quit his job at NTV.
The journalist announced the departure in a tweet on Thursday and thanked his fans.
“I leave @ntvkenya as I came: humbled & grateful. The job was one of the great honours of my life. Thanks to everyone who watched, and to Nation for the privilege of the opportunity.”
“I’m proud of my amazing colleagues & everything we accomplished. Farewell, my friends. Stay woke,” he said.
According to Kenya’s the Star, Madowo’s departure comes just a day after eight columnists quit the Nation newspaper citing lack of editorial independence.
The lot exited on grounds that the media house’s managers have failed or refused to safeguard journalistic ethos.
The columnists who resigned are KNHCR deputy chairperson George Kegoro, Muthoni Wanyeki, Gabriel Dolan, and Rasna Warah.
Others are Maina Kiai, Gabrielle Lynch, Nic Cheeseman, and Kwamchetsi Makokha.
The writers accused Nation Media of systematically placing constraints on independent voices contrary to its stated editorial policy.
