Reasons Why You’re Not Losing Belly Fat

Most of us who are unhealthy on the Fatty Side have one common problem “STUBBORN BELLY FAT”.

Before giving up, most of us have already tried all kinds of methods to get rid of it, but failed to do so.

I might say, its not that complicated to understand, “WHY WE ARE UNABLE TO LOOSE BELLY FAT EVEN AFTER SO MUCH OF EFFORTS”.

Having over a 4 years of experience in fitness industry and after a lot of study I have come down to points, that might answer the question well.

So here are “11 Reasons – Why You Are Not Loosing That Stubborn Belly Fat”

  1. You Are Doing The Wrong Workout.

This is the most common reason why we can’t get rid of that excess fat. We think that excessive cardio workouts will help us loose those few extra pounds, but here is when the reality hits us hard.
Although cardio is good as well as important to maintain and increase cardiovascular strength but it has to be kept in mind that Weight Training plays vital role in increasing you metabolic rate which plays the key role in Fat loss. (please note that i have used the term “Fat Loss” here, and not Weight Loss, Because there is a huge difference between both.

So adding proper Weight Training to your workout routine might work wonders for you !

  1. You Are Eating Too Many Processed Foods !

Most processed foods are high in terms of Glycemic Index ( The glycemic index or (GI) is a number associated with a particular type of food that indicates the food’s effect on a person’s blood glucose (also called blood sugar) level.

It basically means that these foods store more sugar in your body, and hinder the ability to loose belly fat.
On the other hand multi-grain foods and foods rich in fibres and proteins increases metabolic rate and have low GI as well as they are rich in antioxidants, so they can actually prevent belly fat !

  1. You’re eating the wrong fats !

The body doesn’t react to all fats in the same way. Research proves that high intake of saturated fat (the kind in meat and dairy) leads to increased visceral fat. On the other hand, monounsaturated fats (the kind in olive oil and avocados) and specific types of polyunsaturated fats (mainly omega-3s, found in walnuts, sunflower seeds, and fatty fish like salmon) have anti-inflammatory effects in the body, and if eaten in proper portions may do your body good.
But keep in mind that even excess eating of good fats will also lead to high calorie intake – and that is not good for health !

  1. Your Workout Isn’t Hard Enough !

To banish stubborn belly fat, you have to ramp up your workouts. You need to exercise at full intensity because the end goal is to burn more calories, and high intensity exercise does just that.High intensity workouts mean you’re going all out for as long as you can. If this sounds intimidating, think of it this way: you’ll burn more calories in less time.

  1. You Are Doing The Wrong Exercise !

When you’re down to your final inches of belly fat, the dreaded crunch won’t be the exercise that finally reveals your six-pack. “You can’t spot reduce”. Instead doing functional exercises that use the muscles in your core — abdominals, back, pelvic, obliques — as well as other body parts will give a higher rate of calorie burn while you are doing them.

  1. You Are Stressed !

Tight deadlines, bills, your kids — whatever your source of stress, having too much of it may make it harder for you to drop unwanted pounds, especially from your middle. And it’s not just because you tend to reach for high-fat, high-calorie fare when you’re stressed, though that’s part of it. It’s also due to the stress hormone cortisol, which may increase the amount of fat your body clings to and enlarge your fat cells. Higher levels of cortisol have been linked to more visceral fat.

  1. You Are Not Having Enough Sleep !

Although it may sound different but, a 16-year study of almost 70,000 women found that those who slept five hours or less a night were 30% more likely to gain 30 or more pounds than those who slept seven hours. The National Institutes of Health suggest adults sleep seven to eight hours a night.

  1. You’re unmotivated !

Are you committed to the work needed to lose belly fat? “Reducing belly fat takes a combination approach of a low-calorie diet that is high in fibre and low in carbohydrates and sugar along with cardiovascular and weight training,”

If you are willing to do the work, you can move past genetics and lose it !

  1. You’re getting older.

As you get older, your body changes how it gains and loses weight. Both men and women experience a declining metabolic rate, or the number of calories the body needs to function normally. On top of that, women have to deal with menopause. “If women gain weight after menopause, it’s more likely to be in their bellies,”

  1. You’re Eating Too Much at Night !

Your late night craving for popcorn turns into an all-out feast. You wake up the next day feelingbloated, uncomfortable and anything but lean.If you are overeating at night, your body will not have time to burn this off. So have some veggies late at night and get to bed early to avoid overeating. Your abs will thank you the next day with results!

  1. Having Excessive Alcohol !

Cut back on your alcoholic drinks because they can be stimulating your appetite and causing abdominal fat. The occasional glass of wine won’t cause the bulge but a regular routine of drinking easily could. And always avoid margaritas or any other sugary drinks, as they are the culprit of the battle of the bulge!

There are even more reasons to “belly Fat Mystery”, but these 11 points might clear most of the doubts.
