MTN MoMo Launches “Zimba Business with MoMo” Campaign to Empower SMEs in Uganda

In a landmark move set to revolutionize the business landscape of Uganda, MTN MoMo has proudly announced the launch of the “Zimba Business with MoMo” campaign.

This strategic initiative is designed to empower small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the nation, offering them unprecedented opportunities for growth and financial inclusion.

The campaign was officially inaugurated yesterday with a vibrant katogo breakfast meet-up at Nakawa Market, where members of the trader community were introduced to a suite of innovative MoMo for Business services.

MTN MoMo recognizes the vital role SMEs play in driving Uganda’s economy and is resolutely committed to supporting these businesses with comprehensive financial solutions.

The “Zimba Business with MoMo” campaign is more than just an initiative; it is a bold declaration of MTN MoMo’s dedication to becoming a trusted business partner and solutions provider, transcending the traditional view of MoMo merchants as mere payment processors.

The campaign is built around four transformative features designed to meet the diverse needs of business owners. Firstly, business owners can now receive payments directly to their MoMo wallets with ease.

This service not only simplifies the payment process but also consolidates earnings and offers customers a cashless payment option, significantly enhancing business efficiency.

Besides, MTN MoMo enables business owners to make payments to suppliers and vendors effortlessly through merchant-to-merchant payments.

By dialing *155# and selecting the “Make payments” option, businesses can manage petty cash, settle bills, and pay for inventory without the need for physical cash transactions. This feature ensures timely payments and smooth business operations.

By recognizing the challenges micro-merchants face in obtaining traditional financing, MTN MoMo offers Wezimbe Business Loans and XtraStock. Business owners can dial *155#, select “Get Loans,” and either save their earnings or apply for a micro-loan to expand their operations.

This feature empowers entrepreneurs like boda-boda riders to secure loans for additional motorcycles, thereby boosting their revenue potential.

The business owners can also earn extra income by assisting customers with various MoMo transactions. Each time they help a customer pay a bill or complete a payment, they earn a commission.

This not only provides an additional revenue stream but also strengthens the relationship between business owners and their customers, enhancing customer loyalty and satisfaction.

Jemima Kariuki, Chief Product Officer at MTN MoMo, eloquently articulated the campaign’s vision: “We understand the pivotal role that SMEs play in our economy. With the ‘Zimba Business with MoMo’ campaign, we are committed to supporting these businesses by offering tailored financial solutions that address their unique challenges. By positioning MTN MoMo as a reliable and flexible business partner, we aim to enable business growth and financial inclusion for all.”

As part of MTN’s Ambition 2025, which strives to drive financial inclusion and economic empowerment across the continent, MTN MoMo is firmly establishing itself as a trusted financial partner.

The “Zimba Business with MoMo” campaign is a testament to this commitment, reinforcing MTN MoMo’s role in fostering business growth and economic development in Uganda.

The campaign will feature regional katogo-breakfast meetings throughout the country, reaching SMEs in various locations. Business owners are encouraged to stay updated via MTN MoMo’s social media channels for information on when the on-ground teams will be visiting a trading center near them.

With the launch of “Zimba Business with MoMo,” MTN MoMo is not just introducing a campaign but is igniting a movement that promises to transform the business landscape of Uganda, driving economic growth and financial inclusion for all.
