Nicholas Byonanebye Kamuntu, the Kigezi sub-region spokesperson for Alliance for National Transformation  (ANT) political party has received death threats warning him not to dare contest for Ndorwa west Parliamentary seat in 2021 general elections.

Byonanebye is poised to contest for the parliamentary seat which is currently being held by State Minister for Planing in the Ministry of Finance David Bahati.

Byonanebye reported that he received a phone call on Thursday intimidating him to desist from contesting in 2021, threatening that if he continues to express his interest, he would die regretting. The phone number that called him,+211920551824 is allegedly from South Sudan.

“I received a call intimidating me to stop my Candidature in Ndorwa west or else I will die regretting. This leaves me puzzled of where we are heading as a Nation. To my supporters, family and friends, stay calm and let’s render our hearts to the almighty God and pray. They have money, State machinery and many more things that can cripple us, Time will come and all our hope will be lost, our children and grandchildren be killed like flies but that Time is NOT now. We still have a chance to change everything in our own way,”Byonanebye told watchdog Uganda on Thursday in Kabale town.

“My candidature means a lot to this nation; therefore it’s my obligation as a patriot to die raising the flag of this great Nation for mother’s and young people who are voiceless.“

The case has been registered at Kabale central police station under file number 36/03/10/2019.
