The story of Henry Ssuubi Kiyimba, who has been a victim of cyber-bullying for carrying a metallic suitcase to university as a first-year student, is heart touching. Ever since the incident happened early this month, a good number of people have come out to give a helping hand to the fresher.
What started as scorn when a one Emmanuel Aupal, posted a picture of Ssuubi or Hope on twitter, mocking the Makerere University fresher for deceptively carrying what he described as a high school box, is day by day opening doors for him.
From meeting prominent figures in the country to receiving items like a laptop, clothes, a smartphone among others, indeed there’s light at the end of the tunnel for Ssuubi.
Ssuubi who hails from Kamengo in Mpigi district was given a Bachelor of Science in education and Economics course on Government Sponsorship.
Last week, he told the local media that he hoped to teach for a short time after completing his education degree and study civil engineering which is his dream course.
And guess what, one well wisher has come out to fulfill his dream of pursuing an engineering course, though in mechanics.
Joel Aita, the Managing Director of Joadah Consult and Development Infrastructure is the man behind Ssuubi’s current endless smiles after offering him a full scholarship in Mechanical engineering.
“Joadah Consult and Development Infrastructure would like to give our official offer for a full scholarship for Mr Ssuubi Henry Kiyimba for a course in Mechanical Engineering in Makerere University. We would be glad to have a Memorandum of Understanding signed between us, the University and the student,” Aita told Prof Barnabas Nawangwe, the Makerere University Vice Chancellor in a letter dated August 14, 2019.
