Tubonga Naawe was just another job for which I added value – Chameleone

Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone does not regret taking part in the Tubonga Naawe project since he was there for the money.

The singer was one of the key artistes behind Tubonga Naawe, a project that gave musical praise to National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate, Yoweri Museveni during 2016 general elections.

Other artistes who featured on this project included, Dr. Hilderman, Juliana Kanyomozi, Irene Namubiru, Bebe Cool, Radio and Weasel among others.

Chameleone now joins Dr Hilderman, who also trashed the idea earlier, to claim that he only took part for money.

The Mateeka singer made the remarks as he was initiated into Democratic Party (DP), in an event that took place on Thursday at Sharing Hall Nsambya.

According to URN, the singer also claimed that he was invited to add value on Tubonga Naawe but has always been a DP person.

“I was invited to add my value into their destiny, but truthfully, I am a DP person from my great grandfather. That was a job done, now this is another job that needs to be well done,” he said.

The singer alleged that being in NRM was like a business for he always expected money, but he joined DP to serve the people.

“When we were doing particular projects, there were many other people in it. Those who decorated, those who cooked, those who printed t-shirts. It was a business and that was a cheque. It is now time to serve the people.”

The singer recently revealed his ambitious of running for Kampala Lord Mayor seat in the fourth coming elections. According to DP President Norbert Mao, Chameleone will join the race on a green ticket.
