Police in Rubanda District have in custody a 20 year old woman for allegedly cutting off the penis of her seven months old baby.
Kyomuhendo Patience, a resident of Kiruruma cell, Kacerere parish in Bufundi sub county in Rubanda District cut the penis of her son Ahereza Ivan after her husband abandoned her and left her for Kampala.
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman, Kyomuhendo severed her son’s private parts in protest over what she termed as rejection because her husband left her in the village to work as a casual laborer in Kampala and has since not returned after many months.
It’s also said that she wanted to commit suicide . However after severing her son , her mother in law Esther Mparushimana learnt about it and reported the matter to the Police who arrested the suspect.
The Child has been referred to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital where he is reported to be recovering .
This case has been registered at Rubanda police under file number SD 19/27/06/2019 .
