OPINION: You do not have to be a billionaire to save a life!

By Frank M. Gashumba

I’m humbled, I’m grateful, I’m thankful.

I have received over 900 emails and countless WhatsApp messages, from people I do not know congratulating me on the recent accomplishment by Aisha Nabukeera. Incase you aren’t aware, she(Nabukeera) selected by world’s richest man, Bill Gate’s foundation after they picked interest in her story.

Aisha has a very unique story, one that represents hatred, torture, hope and forgiveness.

At the age of 12, this girl was brutally burnt by her step mother. As a true human being, I decided to take up Aisha.

We are good Christians by helping the needy that is the widows, orphans, etc and in Africa its called Ubuntu(Humanity).

What makes us good Christians is not going to church every Sunday, or spending time in night prayers shouting hallelujah. It is what we do privately for others.

And what makes you a good moslem is not praying 5 times a day but having Ubuntu(humanity) in you.

In 2006, I was not a billionaire but we shared the little we had with Aisha, shared the same house with her and the same dinning table.

Many of you do not know the real state Aisha was in, after the unfortunate incident. Forget these pictures you see on social media; the only person who knows the real state Aisha was in is my daughter Sheila and my relatives because the first time I met Aisha, I was with them.

The girl that was meant to be in an intensive care unit, was at Masaka Court seeking court’s intervention to secure Justice for what had happened to her.

Those who called me all sorts of names I forgave you. The only person I will have a hard time forgiving is Mulindwa Muwonge, who must be rotting in hell. Mulindwa Muwonge and Super FM, supervised by Peter Ssematimba, for five consecutive months were on air discouraging Ugandans from helping Nabukeera!

Much as it was Gashumba in front of Nabukeera, let me take this opportunity to thank these silent individuals that executed different assignments to save Nabukeera’s life;

1. Solomon Kajuura.
2.Innocent Alishaba.
3. Silas Ngarambe
4. Sheilah Gashumba
5. Godfrey Majwega
6 Drake Sekeba
7 Sr. Gordon Wavanuno

Finally, I appreciate that you are grateful that I saved a life, but the best gift you can give me is to save another Aisha Nabukeera.
