The mayor of Ntungamo Municipality, Jacob Kafureeka has commended the government for prioritising health issues of Ugandans especially in rural areas.

According to Kafureeka, this has restored wanainchi’s hope in the government, saying it will deliver Uganda to Vision 2040.

He made remarks this week while officiating the ground breaking and site handover for the construction of Ruhoko HCII in Kafunjo village, Kyamate ward Eastern division Ntungamo Municipality.

Recently, the Municipal Council received additional funding of Shs500m to upgrade Ruhoko HCII to HCIII from the ministry.

Ruhoko HCII which was built in 1996 by Kafureeka is second health center in Ntungamo Municipality after Ntungamo health center III which was also upgraded to HCIV.

A committee recommended that the Shs500m funds should be for the construction of general ward, the out patients department at Shs140m, four- stance VIP latrine at Shs35m, maternity ward at Shs300m and Shs25m for monitoring.

However, Kafureeka warned the contractor against shoddy work appealing to local leaders to cooperate while monitoring the progress of work.

The speaker Eastern division Molly Musiimenta hailed the municipality for considering the people of Ruhoko, who have been walking long distancea seeking health services at Itojo Hospital and Ntungamo HCIV.

The Ntungamo Municipality Town clerk Tandeka Festo told the contractor to consider using the local people skilled and unskilled as laborers such that they can also benefit from the project.

Tandeka revealed that the construction will start on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 and end in late August.
