Incarcerated city tycoon SK Mbuga’s wife Vivienne Jalia Mbuga has also been arrested by Criminal Investigative Department (CID) and she is currently being held at Kibuli Police Station.
The development comes two days after the release of her husband from Al Awiir Central Prison in Dubai where he has been for over a year. He first paid Shs1.6 billion as a settlement for a fake gold trade deal.
But even after paying that money, Mbuga was extradited to Denmark prison to face other charges of operating a fake gold scam worth Shs9.5 billion.
Mbuga and wife have always been on the wanted list of Interpol, but matters became worse for them after fleecing over 53 million Swedish Krona (About Shs23 billion) from Vivienne’s Swedish ‘boyfriend’ Sten Heinsoo in 2017.
But Vivienne managed to escape the law and flee back to Uganda. Mbuga on the other hand was so unlucky that he was arrested and jailed in Dubai.
Vivienne has always kept a low profile while in Uganda till when she arrested by CID Officers.
However, it has not yet been confirmed if Vivienne will be handed over to the Swedish government were the alleged crime was committed or she will be charged from here.
