Chairman of Sarova Hotels in Kenya Mohinder Singh Vohra together with his wife, sister and daughter -in-law, perished in a grisly road accident on Sunday.

Police reports indicated the accident occurred along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway that involved a Toyota Prado with the registration plate KBH 200W which had five people in it.

The incident that was confirmed by Mukaa police boss Charles Muthui , occurred at 3.30 pm at Kiungwani area.

Muthui said Saveer Vohra, who was driving the vehicle when the crash occurred was first taken to Sultan Hamud County Hospital before he was flown to a hospital in Nairobi for specialized treatment.

“Two people died on the spot and the other two were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital,” Muthui said.

The family was travelling back to Nairobi from a religious ceremony that took place at Makindu Sikh Temple.

The bodies of the deceased were moved to Machakos level five hospital morgue awaiting autopsy while the wreckage was towed to the Salama Police Station for inspection.

This is the second incident to hit both the hotel and the family following the death of Jaideep Vohra, who was the Managing Director, along the same highway last year.
