Out going Bank of Uganda Supervision Director Justine Bagyenda has dragged 12 online media houses to police accusing them of defamation through publishing stories against her.
According to Daily Monitor, Vicent Ssekatte, the Crime Investigations Directorate (CID) spokesperson confirmed the development and that investigations have already started.
Ssekatte revealed that editors and owners of the publications are to be summoned to record statements.
The accused online media houses include Watchdog Uganda, Chimpreports, Eagle Online, Matooke Republic, Spy Reports, Trumpet news, CEO Uganda, Xpress Times, Investigator, Newz Uganda, The Insider Uganda and Daily Post.
The media houses in question, through some of their publication reported about Bagyenda’s leaked bank details, her role in the collapse of Crane Bank and her accumulation of wealth among others.
