President Yoweri Museveni has said that the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church members in Uganda are disciplined.

He made the observation at State Housed, Entebbe when he received the visiting SDA Church World leader Pastor Dr. Ted Wilson his wife, Mrs. Nancy Wilson. The SDA Church leader is in Uganda for a 4-day pastoral visit.

The Uganda SDA Union leader, Bishop Daniel Maate along with leaders from Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and South Sudan, attended the meeting among others.

“I thank you for visiting Uganda. The SDA members in Uganda are disciplined. I will give instructions to ensure that exams are not set to take place on Saturdays in Uganda,” Museveni said in response to Dr. Wilson’s request to have no exams on Saturday, which is observed as the Sabbath by the SDA faith.

Mr. Museveni said that more measures would be taken to cater for the interests of other Christian denominations that need to be freed from school examinations on Sundays and also for the Muslim community on Fridays. He said that the remaining 4 days of the week would be sufficient to address examinations’ needs in the country.

The SDA Church World leader Pastor Dr. Ted Wilson thanked President Museveni for the exemplary hospitality that he has accorded him and his delegation since their arrival in Uganda. He said that the Church’s policy is to pray for leaders. He revealed that the Seventh Day Adventist Church has got a population of 20 million baptized believers in the world.

Dr. Wilson saluted President Museveni for ensuring freedom of worship for all faiths in Uganda. He informed the President that the Sabbath is a day to help people. He prayed for President Museveni and Uganda on top of thanking God for enabling the Government and people of Uganda host refugees. He highly commended the Government of Uganda for the contribution to the welfare of the refugee community now living in the country
