Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) lost their first game of the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) 2017/2018 season against SC Villa 2-1 on Saturday in Masaka.
The 12 time champions are in sixth place, four points behind log leaders Onduparaka who are on 14 after seven games.
KCCA FC manager Mike Mutebi however is confident KCCA FC can get themselves out of the current situation, which isn’t strange.
“When you look back at the last two championships we have won, the events are a bit similar, dropping points but the opposition not taking the advantage,” said Mutebi on Saturday.
“We are lying sixth on the table, four points behind the leaders, a couple of good results will get us where we should be and am confident we shall get there, it’s just a matter of time,”
KCCA FC play Masavu in their next game on November 4th, 2017 at the StarTimes Stadium Lugogo in search of a second home win and a third overall.
“We must start winning games but at the same time playing with the right identity which we are trying to instill in the team and there is progress,”
The manager added, he also gave credit to SC Villa who frustrated the champions throughout the game played in front of a decent crowd.
“Villa were the better side, they did everything right and made life hard for us from the first whistle, we knew it was never going to be an easy game but we shall bounce back,”
There were positives in the game though, with the return of Striker Derrick Nsibambi, midfielder Muzamir Mutyaba and goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan who captained the side.
