Following the deteriorating discipline and lack of respect for traffic and road user safety guidelines by the public, Kampala Metropolitan Police Traffic Commander SSP Musinga Norman has resurrected the sleeping gladiator operation “tembea salaama”.
Musinga stressed that the operation is to tackle cases of wrong lane driving, drink & drive,indisplined road users including government vehicles,a crackdown on vehicles customised with sirens and security roof lights,driving permits,traffic light violation among others.
The operation is meant to work hand in hand with the Fika Salaama operation that is already on going on the major highways.
He was quoted to have said,” We cannot sit and see the traffic management in our city rot” He asked the drivers to drive responsibly and obey the traffic rules or else face the wrath of the traffic police.
