A pregnant woman had a wish of faith– despite her pregnancy, she wanted to walk from Lira in northern Uganda to Namugongo in Kira Municipality, for this year’s Uganda Martyrs Day on Sunday.

However, a few kilometers to Namugongo, she died with her baby in the womb at Matugga on Tuesday morning. It is four days before Martyrs day.

The deceased Scovia Moro is a resident of Ober parish in Barr Sub County.

Fellow pilgrims say, Scovia fell sick at Kafu after walking about180km from Lira with the group of 470 pilgrims from Lira catholic diocese. However she persisted to walk with the group instead of returning home.

She felt strong abdominal pain, something which seemed like a miscarriage. She was taken to Bishop Asili Health Center IV for treatment and discharged.

When they reached Matugga she collapsed and died. She was three months pregnant. Her body has been taken to Mulago hospital for post mortem.

Whereas Scovia could be seen as another martyr, however, her death brings to question the conduct of many people of faith.
