RUBANDA: Minister Musasizi Commissions Florence Mubonehe Memorial Health Centre

The State Minister of Finance (general duties) Henry Musasizi who is also the Rubanda East Mp has Commissioned Florence Mubonehe Memorial Health Centre at Kyabahinga Cell, Kagarama Ward, Hamuhambo Town Council, Rubanda East Rubanda District.

The Facility at the level of Health Centre II has been established by the family of the late Florence Mubonehe, who served as a Nurse for 49 years at Bwama H.C III and Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, her retirement and subsequent demise in 2016.

Ms. Mubonehe is survived by her five (5) Children, and three of them are medical practitioners, (two doctors and a nurse) while one is an accountant and another is a teacher.

While speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the health facility located across Lake Bunyonyi in the South Western Uganda, Ms. Alice Kyarimpa who is the CEO and Founder of Good shepherd Network, a Charity based organization based in London U.K, explained that they decided to build the health facility in memory of their late mother who first served as a traditional birth attendant before raining as a Nurse.

She further noted that the facility would focus on increasing access to medical needs for the surrounding remote communities and save lives at Lake Bunyonyi.

Minister Musasizi thanked the family of the late Florence Mubonehe and Ms. Alice Kyarimpa in particular, for giving back to the home community by building a health facility in memory of their mother. The Minister noted that the facility was a long lasting family legacy that will also serve the health needs of the people in Kagarama ward and the surrounding areas.

The Rubanda District Secretary for Health and Education Mr. Obed Mutatiina Kitabutuka used the event to highlight some of the Projects they had achieved as a District since Musasizi became the Minister of Finance in 2021. Key among them were the ongoing construction of the first Rubanda District Community Hospital at a tune of 18.5 billion, Elevation of Bufundi HC.III to health Centre IV, with an initial funding amounting to Shs.640 million, construction of a health facility at Sbeya -Hamurwa, and planned elevation of Kagarama HC.II to HC.III among others.

Meanwhile, The Rubanda District Health Officer-D.H.O Dr. Abdon Birungi revealed that the Florence Mubpnehe Memorial Health Centre had passed all the necessary standards to operate as a health facility under the Supervision of Rubanda District Local Government, and promised that his office would give it with all the necessary support available. Dr. Abdon also announced that a total of 660 people had been diagnosed and treated during the free medical camp that preceded the commissioning event.
