Ankore Subregion is one of the fast Developing Regions in Uganda the Pearl of Africa, it is well known of it’s long horned cattle rearing which is done on a large scale.

Most of ankore areas have Transformed through Milk industry forexample Kazo and Nyabushozi have a total of 195 cooling plants with a total capacity of 330,000 litres per day.the trading centre of Rushere alone has got 78 milk coolers with a total capacity of 115,450 ltrs per day contrally to only one Milk cooler in 1989 which belonged to Former Dairy corporation.

Ankore Subregion has a capacity to feed the whole country with matooke, Milk and Coffee.
Areas of Rwampara, Bushenyi, Isingiro District, Ntungamo, Rubirizi Districts are the leading producers of Matooke (Bananas).

Challenges Sorounding These projects are suffering a problem of;
1. land fragmentation,
2.Lack of defined and stable market
3.Middlemen,
4.Poor storage facilities among others .
5.Poor Transport (Roads)

However, The above projects have managed to take off without Tarmac roads, without piped water and without Electricity.
Today the NRM Government has managed to solve some challenges by Constructing More tarmac and Maram Roads, Extension of water and electricity connections to the deep rural areas,

The president of UGANDA set up a Banana -Matooke Value addition Factory in Bushenyi to solve the problem of lack of market and middlemen,But it didn’t succeed due to poor management .

Mbarara City

Some Solutions can be forged; the government;
1.Should think of Value addition centres for Matooke and milk which are major income generating projects in Ankore Subregion, this will promote export of Ugandan products. 2.Work on the Poor roads of Isingiro, Rwampara, Rubirizi and other areas with these projects,
3.Removing the middlemen from the market but creating stable market
4.Work on Storage facilities to improve on the standards of Our products.
5.Government should encourage Farmers engage more in projects With a big Global demand like coffee, tea, Milk, Beef,Fruits, Vanilla, Bananas(Matooke) these projects have both high return in terms of money per acre per annum, National, regional and global demand for small farmers of 5 acres and less!

It should be noted However that some families have only food security and with no food capital and they are both human needs though Food needs are the most primary therefore Commercialization of Agriculture will automatically promote Will automatically increase the food Security and income Income Security as well.
