With a few days left to the swearing in of President elect General Yoweri Museveni, former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi has suspiciously reached out to his counterparts from all the major opposition political parties for a possible dialogue.
Kyagulanyi famously known as Bobi Wine was the first runners-up in the January 14th presidential election where Museveni was eventually declared the winner. He has however rubbished the results announced by the Electoral Commission chief Simon Byabakama as “shamelessly rigged”.
In March 2021, Bobi Wine flew out of the country with the way forward in furtherance of the struggle high on the agenda, according to National Unity Platform-NUP Publicist Joel Ssenyonyi.
On the most recent trip to the United Arab Emirates, Bobi Wine had closed door interactions with NUP leaders, with resolutions remaining a top secret to date.
The dialogue invitation letters that Bobi Wine has sent to other opposition players reveals a lot about his plans against President Museveni and his government.
During the recently concluded NUP retreat in Jinja, rejecting Museveni’s victory and forcing an electoral accountability were some of the resolutions adopted by the members.
Amid threats of not accepting Museveni’s swearing-in from Kyagulanyi and his party, Intelligence sources have already briefed Museveni on a plot by hostile camps to cause mayhem in the city and frustrate the swearing in arrangements.
To further lend that intelligence prudence, placards have been found in different parts of the country reading ” No swearing in”.
With everything looking suspicious thus, shouldn’t the public have to keenly scrutinize Kyagulanyi’s suspicious call for opposition unity with days to the swearing-in?
