Horizon International School Uganda, a premier educational institution in Jinja City is proud to announce its 10-year anniversary on 7th September, 2024 in a ceremony expected to be graced by a catalogue of high profile stakeholders especially from the education sector.

The anniversary celebrations, under the theme: “Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future”, will take place at the school premises, featuring various activities, including cultural performances, exhibitions and a keynote address by the director.

The business community, parents, politicians, and old students now in the public space will join the ceremony to be presided over by the school director Ibrahim Yunus.

Since its inception, the school has made a lot of contributions to the community, providing top-notch education to students from diverse backgrounds.

Located on plot 2,16 Scot Road, in the former Walukuba/Masese Division now a parish in Southern Division, Horizon International School Uganda offers a comprehensive curriculum spanning early years, primary, lower and upper secondary, as well as renowned Cambridge sections, including A-level and IGCSE.

The school’s commitment to academic excellence has made it a beacon of quality education in the region.

Over the past decade, Horizon International School Uganda has become a hub for international students, catering to the needs of expatriates families and investors in Uganda’s second biggest tourism and industrial city.

The school’s diverse student body reflects the city’s growing reputation as a hub for foreign investment and tourism, which is always advocated for by the NRM government under President Yoweri Museveni.

“…we are thrilled to celebrate this milestone anniversary, our school’s success is a testament to the dedication of our staff, students, and parents…”, the school Principal Godfrey Sekitoleko remarked.

Sekitoleko says that for the last 10 years, Horizon International School has been a cornerstone of academic excellence and a nurturing environment for students from all walks of life.

“…this celebration is not just a reflection on the years gone by but also a testament to the shared vision and dedication that have propelled us to where we are today…”, Godfrey Sekitoleko said.

He says the Cambridge curriculum, with its emphasis on critical thinking, global perspectives, and a rigorous academic framework, has been instrumental in shaping the school’s educational philosophy.

The school’s celebrations are hinged on excellent academic successes from outstanding examination results to impressive university placements, and more importantly the students have grown into thoughtful, compassionate individuals who are well prepared to face the challenges of the future.

In addition to academic excellence, Sekitoleko notes that Horizon International School also focuses on the holistic development of the students through extracurricular programmes, cultural events and community service projects which provide students with many leadership and skills opportunities.

The school is also proud that it has facilitated cultural diversity, international community, employment opportunities, establishment of an Olympic swimming pool, improved infrastructural development, and fostering of community network.

Like they say life is not always a bed of roses, Horizon International School Uganda with the motto: “Beyond Your Horizons”, has faced a number of challenges, but Godfrey Sekitoleko is quick to say each of the challenges has strengthened and enriched their experience and resolve.

“…our resilience and adaptability are a testament to the strength of our community and our shared commitment to providing the best possible education for our students…”, he said.

Touching on the future prospects, Godfrey Sekitoleko is optimistic that more investment in modern education and enhancing the facilities will be able provide a richer learning experience.

The Kiira/Jinja Regional Police spokesperson SP James Mubi has welcomed the celebrations, saying Horizon International School is one of the strategic stakeholders in the region.

“…we have not experienced any single case of crime-related activities usually common in many schools in the region, so we commend the management of this unique school…”, SP James Mubi said.

He has asked members of the general public to continue supporting the school because of the economic multiplier effects that will always accrue from the existence of Horizon International in Jinja City.

What Is An International School?

An international school is an educational institution that follows a curriculum and teaching approach that is tailored to students from diverse cultural backgrounds, often with a global perspective.

Here is what sets it apart:

Students benefit from international schools in several ways, namely global citizenship. Students develop a deeper understanding of different cultures, preparing them to thrive in an interconnected world.

Other benefits include language skills, critical thinking, networking opportunities, and university preparation, which can be summed thus; international schools provide a unique educational experience that prepares students for success in the globalized world.
