In a bid to improve on service delivery,Tororo District Local Government has commissioned administrative blocks for Akadot and Merikit Sub-counties.

Presided over by Tororo Deputy RDC Albert Amula, the commissioned blocks were under projects for the Financial Year 2023/2024 and were undertaken by M/s Deliton Services Limited and M/S Tsandex Investments Limited respectively.

As he handed over the completed buildings after a guided tour of the same on Tuesday, the RDC tasked the respective sub-county chiefs to be in full custody of the property in addition to proper maintenance.

“While I want to thank the leadership at all levels within the district for lobbying, regular monitoring and ensuring that the contractors finish the task on time,I challenge the respective sub-county chiefs to ensure proper cusotdy of the new blocks”, Mr. Amula argued revealing that there must be value for money through proper maintenance of the new buildings.

Flanked by area assistant RDCs Julius Oketcho and Aidah Kigen,District Vice Chairperson Hon Rebecca Akumu, members of district executive,CAO among others,Mr. Amula also commissioned a three classroom block at Apokor Primary School constructed by M/S Fiona International LTD.

The efficient and effective RDC noted that the new structure will help improve on the education standards and reduce congestion in classrooms since the school has over 2183 pupils but with limited classrooms. The workaholic RDC tasked the headteacher to ensure that the performance of the school improves since the challenge of limited classrooms has been addressed. He also challenged the different stakeholders to keep a keen eye on the usage of the commissioned projects.

The Deputy RDC who is famous in the area for being a hands-on person, appreciated all the various contractors for the good work undertaken for the respective projects and implored them to maintain the standards.

Throughout the beehive of activities that he was involved into during the day, inquisitive community members kept on bombarding Mr. Amula with queries about the much treasured Parish Development Model. And considerate as always, the attentive Deputy Presidential representative pledged to organize community engagements in all the 42 lower local governments to address challenges in the Parish development model since the complaints were becoming too many in the district.

On her part, the Vice chairperson Hon Rebecca Akumu urged the beneficiaries to utilise the newly constructed infrastructures to deliver effective and efficient services to the people and tasked them to promote social economic transformation of households.

The different recipients of the commissioned projects committed to be responsible users and vowed to maintain them for prosperity purposes

The community members were heard saying that in their RDC’s office they trust since effective service delivery tops their priority list and that there is value for money whenever projects are undertaken.
